…Apparently that’s the cue to exhale after a crazy see-saw basketball game at Oracle Arena. For Christmas, Emily gave me tickets to see the Warriors vs. Spurs game yesterday, January 7th. It was pretty freakin’ sweet. After getting off to another slow start, the Warriors, clad in throwbacks, stepped up and made it close going into the second quarter and by the second half we had the lead. We were up by as much as 12 points at one…point–then all of a sudden our lead was gone with the final minutes elapsing–and Baron Davis had to beast up just to keep us in the game. He had two consecutive drives to the hoop where he drew fouls, and of course he converted both 3-point plays–after the second drive and foul, I was so hyped that I started chanting “M-V-P!” at the top of my lungs. It caught on and soon everyone around me was chanting along with me–I swear it was at least half the arena, if not every section; although, Emily says it was just our section and the one below ours (whatever though). Either way I was so fucking pumped, haha. But, what’s this? Not over? Nope, not by a long shot–but by a short 3 pointer by Tony Parker to tie the game with 6 seconds to go. Great. Overtime. 5 heart-wrenching minutes…well more like 2 or 3, because Davis and Jackson started rolling and we were gone! Jackson finally showed up at the end and turned on the clutch button and the Spurs couldn’t match us. At the Spurs timeout cheerleaders bounced onto the floor and the “Up by 5 with 1 minute left in overtime tricycles” were being ridden by some of the Warriors’ circus clowns around the court, signifying sweet success.
